The PET itself is close to 100% recycled plastic, the same polyethylene terephthalate used for drinks bottles and hundreds of other forms of packaging. Injection moulding does not use steam heated presses so reducing the energy used during the record forming stage and requiring significantly less energy per record than conventional PVC pressing. Using recycled PET from a well managed, regional supply chain reduces the energy use further as well as the need for the raw material.
